Seasons of Change: Forward Bends w/ Joan Hyman

Forward bends can take us inward and have a quieting effect on the nervous system. However, going inwards can create resistance as we shift from a doing state to becoming more receptive and still. Inversions, especially when coupled with longer holds can have the same effect on the nervous system and move us towards a healing state that helps us get quiet and go inwards. The Winter Solstice is a time to go inwards and honor the darkness. As we get quiet, we become more receptive to what direction we would like to move towards and this weekend is a great weekend to plant seeds that can sprout in the New Year to come. In this 75 minute practice, Joan will guide you into your hamstrings and release the whole back body before guiding you into inversions. We will end with a light pranayama and meditation and honor the art of stillness. This class is welcome to all levels and Joan will provide plenty of modifications to help you reap the benefits of forward bends and inversions.
